The elections for certain key states in the Hindi heartland took place a few days back. In fact, some states voted while our country came to terms with the biggest terrorist attack we've ever faced.
And as the votes were counted today, I have to say that I was very surprised.. and a little proud. Junta wasn't swayed by the crap people tried to pull post 26/11 and the vote seems to be on real issues.. for the first time in my life, I heard the words "pro-incumbency" spoken with respect to Indian politics..
In the past few days, I've indulged in a lot of politician bashing. I've talked about the need for a change, the need for younger blood. But I've gotta say.. when someone like Sheila Dikshit wins a third term in office, you do wanna take a step back and appreciate what she's done. If people want her on the chair even after 10 years, after a campaign that didn't aim to divide and rule, she must be doing something right. So while people like Vilasrao Deshmukh should be shown the door, we also should put our hands together for Sheila Dikshits of India.

Pro incumbency. :) I loved the way Shivraj Singh Chauhan spoke yesterday. Rajdeep and Yogendra Yadav tried their level best to make him hit out at Uma Bharti but he kept silent. Interestingly the "pundits" said that maybe now Indians will vote on basis of working CMs.
Yeah.. I liked the way the guy spoke as well :)
